Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics for Underserved Populations
Howard University RCMI Community Engagement Core is funded by a National Institutes of Health (NIH) initiative to help speed innovation around COVID-19. This initiative, Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics for Underserved Populations (RADx-UP), is researching COVID-19 testing patterns in communities across the country and data on disparities in infection rates, disease progression, and outcomes. RADx-UP is also developing strategies to reduce disparities in COVID-19 testing by supporting projects across the country with established community partnerships.
In partnership with local community groups, Howard University RCMI RADx-UP is hosting community informed and led sessions on COVID-19 topics, including testing, treatments, emerging research, and scientific studies. These activities aim to advance general knowledge and empower community’s confidence and self-efficacy to make decisions about COVID-19 testing, treatment, vaccination, and participation in research.
